Chapters & Organizations
A Chapter is a logical grouping of People used for access control. An Organization is a collection of Chapters. By default, when you create your Solidarity account you will start with 1 Chapter and 1 Organization.
If you are on the Standard Billing Plan or above, you will be able to create additional Chapters and Organizations. Once you do so, it is important to always be aware of the Scope under which you are currently logged in. This is always visible in the top left corner of the Admin Dashboard:

All the resources visible to you in the dashboard, will only be these accessible from the Scope under which you're logged in.
Changing scope in dashboard and app
If your role assignments cover more than one Chapter or Organization, the top left section of the dashboard becomes a dropdown. Click it to change the Scope you are logged in to. Similarly, those with access to multiple Scopes will be able to change their Scope in the app from the settings screen.
Chapter details
Chapters are a core part of Solidarity's data structure - every Person in your database must belong to at least one primary Chapter, and can optionally belong to multiple secondary Chapters (requires Standard plan or higher).
Every Chapter can have a local phone number from a supported area code for all voice and text communications with People who belong to that Chapter. The Default Area Code field in the Chapter settings does not change the chapter's current number. It sets the area code for the next number swap.
Chapter Settings
Each chapter has the following configurable settings:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Chapter Name | The display name for this chapter |
| Chapter Logo | Upload a logo (256x256 pixels ideal) |
| Parent Organization | Which organization this chapter belongs to |
| Supported Languages | Languages available for this chapter's forms and communications |
| Timezone | The chapter's default timezone. Options are labeled by GMT offset and region name, so Central Time appears as "(GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)", not "CST" |
| Default Area Code | When you swap the chapter's phone number, the new number uses this area code (US/Canada only) |
| Social Media | Either inherit from the parent organization or set custom accounts |
Incoming calls
Solidarity Tech allows you to customize how incoming calls are routed for your organization, ensuring that calls reach the appropriate person or team member. The options are in the Incoming Calls section of the chapter page in Settings > Chapter Structure. Click Save Call Routing to save them for calls to the chapter's number.
Routing Options
When configuring call routing, you can select from the following options:
-
Route Directly to Voicemail
- All incoming calls are sent straight to voicemail, bypassing any agents or team members.
- This is useful for chapters that prefer to handle calls asynchronously.
-
Route to Assigned Agent
- Calls are directed to the Agent assigned to the contact in the database.
- If no agent is assigned, calls will default to voicemail.
- Optionally enable Fall Back to Specified Team Member to route calls to a chosen team member when there is no assigned agent, instead of going to voicemail.
-
Route to Specified Team Member
- Calls are routed to a specific team member selected in the settings.
- This is useful for chapters with centralized call handling by a particular team member.
-
Route to Team Members
- Calls ring all selected team members simultaneously. The first person to answer gets the call.
- You can select up to 10 team members.
Routed calls ring in the Solidarity app. Each team member who gets calls needs a dashboard login. They must also have the app installed and be signed in on their phone. Otherwise the call goes to voicemail.
Callback Routing Override
For all routing options except "Route Directly to Voicemail," you can check Enable Callback Routing Override. When enabled, if a team member called a contact and that contact calls back within one hour, the return call is routed directly to the team member who last called them, regardless of the usual routing setting. This keeps the conversation with the same person.
Callbacks During Phonebanks
When someone calls back the chapter number after missing a phonebank call, what happens depends on the routing setting. If routing is set to voicemail, or no assigned agent or specified team member is found, the call goes directly to voicemail. The person then goes back into the phonebank queue so the dialer tries them again. This happens only when the chapter has an active phonebank and their last attempt there was unanswered or shorter than 3 minutes. If the call rings an agent or team member and they don't pick up, the caller still reaches voicemail, but the automatic re-queue does not apply.
Incoming callbacks operate independently from the predictive dialer. The dialer does not pause or interrupt when a callback comes in. These are separate systems.
Notes
- Calls from numbers not in your database ring the selected team members under Route to Specified Team Member and Route to Team Members. Under Route to Assigned Agent, they ring the fallback team member if one is set, or go to voicemail.
- If the selected recipient does not answer, calls will also go to voicemail.
Chapter voicemail
You can upload a recording in the Chapter Voicemail Message section of the chapter page. It plays when a call goes to voicemail. Every voicemail shows in the Call Inbox.
Waiting room music
If your plan includes the predictive dialer, the chapter and organization pages in Settings > Chapter Structure have a Waiting Room Music section. Agents hear this music in the predictive dialer waiting room, in every phonebank that inherits it.
The root organization uploads its own songs. For a chapter or a sub organization, pick one of three choices: inherit from the parent, Use custom songs, or Use standard hold music. Click Save Waiting Room Music to save your choice. Uploading or deleting a song saves at once.
Calendar Subscription
Generate a calendar subscription URL that chapter officers can use to subscribe to upcoming events in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or any calendar app that supports iCal feeds.
From the Chapter or Organization settings page, click Generate Calendar Link to create the subscription URL. Once generated, you can copy the URL or regenerate it (which invalidates the previous link).
The feed includes events whose event page has Show in Web Event Calendars on and is not Unpublished. It lists sessions that started in the last 30 days and all future sessions. Events update automatically as they're created or modified.
Organization details
When you create your account, you get a root Organization which sits at the top of your organizational structure. Under this Organization, you can create child Chapters and Organizations. A child Organization may consist of multiple Chapters that belong together. For example, a national organization may have the root Organization be "Rideshare Drivers United - USA." They may want to group the Chapters, for Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco, under an Organization titled "Rideshare Drivers United - California." This would then allow administrators to grant statewide access to certain Team Members and to run statewide Events or Phonebanks.
Committees, Departments, or Caucuses
If your organization has internal committees, departments, or caucuses that each need their own email senders, team members, and resources, you can create a sub-organization and then add a chapter for each committee within it. Each chapter can have its own scoped email senders, events, blasts, and phone number. Team members assigned to a chapter see that chapter's resources, and pickers such as the email sender menu also offer the parent organizations' resources. The parent organization retains visibility across everything.
To set this up, go to Settings > Chapter Structure and click New organization. Then switch your scope to the new organization and click New chapter for each committee. Assign team members with chapter-scoped roles and add Email Senders for each chapter.
Contacts Stored Here
On a sub organization page, the Contacts Stored Here setting has two choices: People and Organizations. Choose Organizations when every contact in the sub organization and its chapters is an organization. The People page then says Organizations, and each profile shows one Organization name field.
Organization Branches
Branches need the Professional or Enterprise plan. An Organization can have its own geographic branches, separate from the branches of its Chapters. This allows for regional segmentation across your entire organization. For example, you might create Organization-level branches for "Northern California" and "Southern California" that span multiple Chapters.
Organization branches can also use the Sync to Chapter feature to automatically add People to a Chapter based on their geographic location. See Branches for more details.
Root Organization Settings
Your root (top-level) Organization has additional settings that apply across your entire account. Navigate to Settings > Chapter Structure, click your root organization, and you'll find:
Mailing Address
Your organization's mailing address is required for email compliance. The address shows in the footer of your email wrappers. A wrapper can hide it when you turn off its Organization Info footer section.
Texting Hours
Texting hours use each recipient's timezone. A text blast skips each recipient whose local time is past the end time, unless you check Continue delivering messages after texting hours end. Automations do not use these hours, because each automation has its own Automation Communication Settings.
Social Media
Add your organization's social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok, Threads, BlueSky, YouTube, Discord, Mastodon, UpScrolled). These can be displayed on your landing pages and inherited by child organizations and chapters.
Referral Notifications
The checkbox is Enable referral email notifications, and it is on by default. When it is on, a person gets an email when someone submits a form through their referral link. So does a team member who texted them a link.
Form Chapter Assignment
When enabled, existing users who submit a form will automatically be added to that form's default chapter (if not already a member). Unless your organization assigns chapters by location, each form has a Default Chapter menu on the page's Form tab. A new form starts with the page's chapter, or with the organization's Default Chapter (if set) on an organization page.
App "Add Person" Form
By default, the Add Person screen in the Solidarity app uses a built in form. To use your own form, pick a page with a form in the dropdown. When a custom form is set, team members who tap the + icon to add a new person in the app will see your custom form instead, allowing you to collect additional information during intake. The agent's referral code and credit are applied automatically to submissions through this form.
Protected Core Fields
Organization admins can restrict visibility of sensitive contact information. When a core field is protected, team members without the View Protected Properties permission cannot see or edit that field on any person's profile.
The following fields can be protected:
| Field | What Gets Hidden |
|---|---|
| Full Address | Address line 1 and address line 2 are hidden. City, state, and postal code remain visible as read only. |
| Phone Number | The entire phone numbers section is hidden. |
| Email Address | The entire email addresses section is hidden. |
To configure, navigate to Settings > Chapter Structure, click your root organization, and check the fields you want to restrict under Protected Core Fields.
Team members with the View Protected Properties permission still see and edit all fields.
Account Owner
Every Solidarity Tech account has a single account owner. The account owner has ultimate administrative control over the account, including billing and plan management.
Only the current account owner can transfer ownership to another team member, from the dashboard. The new owner must have the built in Admin User role at the root organization and a Solidarity Tech login.
Transferring account ownership is irreversible. Once transferred, only the new account owner can transfer it back.
Email Unsubscribe Page
Configure how people can unsubscribe from your organization's emails:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Show all chapter subscriptions on unsubscribe page | When enabled, unless unsubscribes are organization-wide, the unsubscribe page lists all chapters the person belongs to. The person can opt out of some chapters and stay in others |
| Allow users to unsubscribe from all chapters at once | When enabled, unless unsubscribes are organization-wide, the unsubscribe page shows an "Unsubscribe from all emails" button. The button opts the person out of all email from your organization |
These settings give you control over how granular the unsubscribe experience is for your members. For more details on how permissions work, see Communication Permissions.
